Cleveland, Ohio (May 2008) – Pat Sandy is a man who wears many hats. He is the program director of humorous card planning at American Greetings, he oversees the development of new humor concepts, assists in researching the latest trends in humor, works with the creative teams to come up with humorous cards for holidays such as Father’s Day and, oh, he is a father, too.

A 25-year veteran artist and writer, Sandy has seemingly seen it all in the greeting card industry, and as a dad he has seen more than his fair share in the child raising industry. This combination actually has been perfect for Sandy who uses his real-world experiences as he helps to create new offerings for Father’s Day. This personal background allows him to better reflect on what makes dads laugh, and what will relate most authentically to the father-child relationship.

Sandy is available to discuss a wide variety of topics regarding this year’s celebration of Father’s Day including:

  • How his experience as a father shapes the cards he works on
  • How the role of dad has evolved and how that has been expressed in the card aisle
  • The growing in-flux of stay-at-home dads and dads who are more hands on in terms of child-care and how that is reflected in the card aisle
  • What dads really want for Father’s Day
  • The reasons why how we joke with dad today is very different from how we joked with him 25 years ago
