Cleveland, Ohio (August 2007) – Everyone may grow up, but apparently we don’t outgrow the need for Halloween. In fact, the National Retail Federation reports that 85 percent of adults 18 – 24 will be celebrating this year, as will 76 percent of those 25-34 and 71 percent of those 35 – 44.
Whether dressing up in a costume or simply handing out candy, more than 64 percent of all consumers will be participating in Halloween in one way or another this year. Realizing that everyone likes to get into the spirit, American Greetings has designed cards that allow kids of all ages to celebrate in a way that is uniquely them.
From fresh depictions of traditional icons for youngsters to fashionable updates of all things that go bump in the night for adults, this year’s card line has a little something for everyone.
“Sending a Halloween card is a simple way to get into the fun of the season,” said Alana Campana, Halloween product manager at American Greetings. “With more people getting involved in the holiday, we have expanded our offering to include even more variety.”
Campana noted that variation in color schemes is one element this year that showcases the fun and eeriness of the holiday. Vibrant shades of orange, brown and green accent festive images of spiders, jack-o-lanterns and pumpkins. More fashionably dark combinations, such as black and purple, highlight more intricate and subtle designs.
The new cards also find creative uses for some of the haunting words of the season such as “eerie,” “spellbinding” and “alluring.” The tongue-in-cheek sentiments make them perfect for sending to a best friend, or even as an offbeat romantic greeting.
